Broadway/Brand, Broadway/Glendale: Utility Exploration

Summary:

The North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is part of Metro’s plan for better transit. This project will connect the cities of Los Angeles (North Hollywood and Eagle Rock communities), Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena through a new zero-emission BRT service while improving access to jobs, education, and other important destinations.

Beginning in early August 2025, crews will begin preliminary activities in Glendale to prepare the roadway for construction. These activities will include locating and identifying underground utilities. This notice describes the work at the Broadway and Brand Bl and Broadway and Glendale Av intersections.

Schedule:

Week of August 4, 2025, for approximately one week.
Work hours: Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm.

Locations Details:

Broadway/Brand Bl

Eastbound lane reduction on Broadway between Orange St and Artsakh Av.
Westbound lane reduction between Louise St and just east of Brand Bl.
Turn movements onto all streets will be maintained.

Broadway/Glendale Av

Westbound lane reduction on Broadway at intersection.
Northbound lane reduction on Glendale Av at Broadway.
Turn movements onto all streets will be maintained.

What to Expect:

Potholing consists of boring a hole through the roadway or sidewalk to locate underground utilities. Once an underground utility is located, the hole is filled back in. Noise and minimal vibration are expected.
Signs and flaggers will direct traffic and pedestrians through open lanes, sidewalks, and crosswalks.
One lane will be open to traffic at all times. Work will not occur in each area simultaneously and lanes will reopen at the end of each workday.
Access to sidewalks, crosswalks, and businesses will be maintained.
Temporary parking restrictions will be posted in the immediate work area.
