Van Nuys Bl Aerial Station and Vesper Bridge Work


Metro’s contractor, Valley Transit Partners (VTP), will begin bridge construction for the new aerial Metro G Line Van Nuys Bl Station and at Vesper Av. To facilitate this work, VTP will reduce thru lanes from 3 to 2 lanes in each direction along Van Nuys Bl, traffic signal modification at Aetna St, and constructing a covered pedestrian detour through Summer 2026. 

Additionally, expect intermittent full directional nighttime closures of Van Nuys Bl and Vesper Av between Califa St and Delano St.  

Bridge Construction 

  • When: August 1, 2025 through Summer 2026 
  • Day Work Hours: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM 
  • Night Work Hours: 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM 
  • Where: Van Nuys Bl and Vesper Av between Bessemer St and Oxnard St 

Intermittent Van Nuys Bl Full Nighttime Closure  

  • When: August 1 to August 15 
  • Time: 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM 
  • Where: Van Nuys Bl between Califa St and Delano St 
  • When: September 2 to December 5 
  • Time: 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM 
  • Closures: Van Nuys Bl between Delano St and Califa St 

What to Expect  

  • During nighttime closures, Metro Buses will be on temporary detours, please follow signage. For information, please call 323.GoMetro.  
  • Reduced overhead clearance: The new overhead clearance will be approximately 15 ½ feet. 
  • Intermittent nighttime closures of Van Nuys Bl and Vesper Av. Follow detour signs.  
  • Removal of left turn pocket at Aetna St from Southbound Van Nuys Bl 
  • ADA pedestrian access on Van Nuys Bl and Vesper Av between Bessemer St and Aetna St will be maintained via a temporary sidewalk tunnel. Please approach the area carefully and follow the fence line.
Additional Information 
  • All work must receive necessary permits and approvals prior to work beginning. 
  • Access to emergency responders will be maintained. 
  • Access to driveways, residences & businesses will be maintained at all times unless notified in advance.  
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas, please follow the signage. 
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts. 
  • Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change.
