Construction Notice: Utility Investigations at Colfax Av and Chandler Bl


Metro’s contractor, Valley Transit Partners (VTP), will be performing utility investigations at the G Line Busway at Laurel Canyon Bl and Chandler Bl. Activities include saw cutting, potholing, and street restoration. This work will be done in four alternating phases throughout the duration of these activities. Please follow all detour signage.
 

Schedule:

Anticipated start: April 13, 2026
Anticipated completion: Early May, 2026 

Work hours:  

Monday to Friday, 9am to 3:30pm  
Saturday and Sunday: 8am to 6pm 

Night work: 8pm to 6am
Saturday & Sunday 8am to 6pm


What To Expect

  • Temporary directional lane closures, including turn lanes and select through lanes on Colfax Bl and Chandler Bl
  • Temporary closures of bike lanes and directional street segments, with signed detours provided as needed.
  • No continuous full intersection closures; local access, pedestrian access, and emergency access will be maintained at all times.
  • All existing closures will be removed before the next phase is implemented to minimize cumulative traffic impacts.

Traffic Control & Safety:

  • Traffic control will follow approved LADOT Traffic Control Plans, CA-MUTCD, and WATCH Manual requirements.
  • Detour signage, flaggers, and temporary traffic control devices will be provided as required.
  • Roadways will be restored to existing conditions outside of work hours when feasible.


Additional Information

  • All work must receive necessary permits and approvals prior to work beginning. 
  • Access to emergency responders will be maintained. 
  • Access to driveways, residences & businesses will be maintained unless notified in advance.  
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas, please follow the signage. 
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts. 
  • Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change.
