Colorado Av and Lake Av: Station Construction


Summary:

The North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is part of Metro’s plan for better transit. This project will connect North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock and Pasadena through a new zero-emission BRT service that is faster and more reliable.

Beginning in April 2026, crews will begin construction activities in Pasadena in preparation to build enhanced bus stations.

Location: Intersection of Colorado Av and Lake Av

When: Work activity is anticipated to begin the week of April 20, 2026, for approximately 2 months.


Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm. Closures remain in place 24/7 until complete.
 
What To Expect: Crews plan to begin on the northwest side of Colorado/Lake (approx. 6 weeks)
  • Westbound and eastbound travel lane reductions on Colorado Bl between Hudson Av and Mentor Av. At least one lane will be available.
  • Right turns from Lake Av onto westbound Colorado Bl may be prohibited.
  • Sidewalk closure on north side of Colorado Bl between Hudson Av and Lake Av. Pedestrian signs will be placed.
  • Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained.
  • Lane reductions to southbound Lake Av across intersection. At least one lane will be available
  • Market Alley (behind Lunasia) will be maintained.


 

What to Expect: Crews then plan to shift to the northeast corner of Colorado/Lake (approx. 3 weeks).
  • Westbound lane reduction on Colorado Bl between Mentor Av and Lake Av.
  • Right turn from westbound Colorado Bl onto Lake Av prohibited.
  • Sidewalk closure on northeast corner of Colorado Bl. Pedestrians signs will be placed.
  • Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained.
  • Lane reductions to northbound Lake Av across intersection. At least one lane will be available.



What to Expect:
  • Crews will continue improvements in the area through September 2026, shifting to the south side of Colorado Bl. Additional details will be shared in advance.
  • All work has or will receive the necessary permits and approvals.
  • Work includes  demolition of curb and sidewalk, and new concrete pours. Noise, dust, and vibration are expected. Water-filled and pedestrian barriers will be placed for safety.
  • Signs and flaggers will direct traffic through open lanes. Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside construction zones. Pedestrian detour signs will be posted.
  • Temporary parking restrictions will be posted in the immediate work area.
  • Access to driveways, residences, and businesses will be maintained unless notified in advance.
Noteworthy
  • Construction is dynamic and schedules are subject to change.
