Colorado Bl and Lake Av: (Southside of Intersection)


Summary:

The North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is part of Metro’s plan for better transit. This project will connect North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock and Pasadena through a new zero-emission BRT service that is faster, more reliable, and operates like the best rail lines in the County.

Location: The contractor is progressing at the Colorado/Lake intersection. This notice describes those additional work activities and required closures.

When:  Anticipated to begin as early as July 24, for approximately three months.
 
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm. Closures remain in place 24/7 until complete. Prior to the start of longer term closures listed below, crews will perform minor utility exploration.
 
Crews plan to begin on the southwest corner of Colorado/Lake (approx. two weeks).
  • Right turn from Colorado Bl to southbound Lake Av prohibited.
  • Sidewalk closed at the southwest corner of Colorado Bl. Pedestrian detour signs will be placed.
  • Pedestrian access to businesses maintained.
  • Southbound lane reductions on Lake Av from Union St through the intersection. At least one lane will be available.


 

Crews will then shift to the southeast side of Colorado/Lake (approx. 5 weeks).
  • Westbound and eastbound lane reductions on Colorado Bl between Hudson Av and Catalina Av. At least one lane will be available.
  • Sidewalk will be closed on the south side of Colorado Bl between Lake Av and Mentor Av for an extended period.
    • Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained.
  • Northbound lane reductions on Lake Av between Green St and Colorado Bl. At least one lane will be available.
  • Right turn from Lake Av onto eastbound Colorado Bl may be prohibited for a period of time.

Crews will continue advancing work operations on the south side of Colorado/Lake (approx. two weeks).
  • Following completion of work crews will perform paving and striping. This work requires temporary lane reductions.


 
What to Expect:
  • All work has or will receive the necessary permits and approvals.
  • Temporary parking restrictions will be posted in the immediate work area.
  • Work includes demolition of curb and sidewalk, and new concrete pours. Noise, dust, and vibration are expected. Water-filled and pedestrian barriers will be placed for safety.
  • Signs and flaggers may direct traffic through open lanes. Access for pedestrians is available outside construction zones. Detour signs will be posted.
  • Access to driveways, residences, and businesses will be maintained unless notified in advance.
