City of Glendale-Glenoaks Bl: Utility Exploration

Summary:

The North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is part of Metro’s plan to improve mobility across the region. This new zero-emission BRT service will connect North Hollywood and Eagle Rock in the City of Los Angeles with the cities of Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena—expanding access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations.

Beginning in early August 2025, crews will begin preliminary activities in Glendale to prepare the roadway for construction. These activities will include locating and identifying underground utilities. This notice describes the work on Glenoaks Bl between just west of Alameda Av and Central Av.

Schedule:

Week of August 8, 2025, for approximately one month
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location Details:

  • Eastbound and westbound lane reductions will occur between just east of Alameda Av and Central Av. Right turn movements will be maintained.
  • Intermittent eastbound left turn lane closures at Concord St, Kenilworth Av, and Highland Av.
  • Intermittent westbound left turn lane closures at Kenilworth Av, Pacific Av, Sonora Av, Grandview Av,
  • Graynold Av, Highland Av, and Allen Av.
  • Drivers wanting to turn left at one of the above intersections may turn left at the next available intersection. Consecutive intersections will not be closed at the same time.
  • Bike lanes will be closed intermittently. Cyclists will merge with traffic and share the road within immediate work zones.

What to Expect:

  • Potholing consists of boring a hole through the roadway or sidewalk to locate underground utilities. Once an underground utility is located, the hole is filled back in. Noise and minimal vibration are expected.
  • Signs and flaggers will direct traffic, cyclists, and pedestrians through open lanes, sidewalks, or crosswalks.
  • One lane will be open to traffic at all times. Work will not occur in each area simultaneously and lanes will reopen at the end of each workday.
  • Access to sidewalks, crosswalks, and businesses will be maintained.
  • Temporary parking restrictions will be posted in the immediate work area.
