Holly St between Arroyo Pw and Marengo Av: Paving and Striping Activities


Summary:

The North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is part of Metro’s plan for better transit. This project will connect North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock, and Pasadena through a new zero-emission BRT service that is faster, more reliable and operates like the best rail lines in the County.

In April 2026, Metro’s contactor began construction activities in Pasadena to prepare the area for enhanced bus stations. This notice describes final paving and striping activities at the Holly/Arroyo intersection.

Location: Intersection of Holly St and Arroyo Pw

When: Anticipated to begin the week of August 24, 2026, for approximately one month.


Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm. Closures remain in place 24/7 until complete.

What To Expect: Paving and striping will begin on the north side of Holly/Arroyo (approx. two weeks).
  • Westbound Holly St closed between Marengo Av and Raymond Av. Eastbound travel lane will be available.
  • Access to Holly St Village apartments and Holly St Garage will be available from eastbound Holly St.
  • Follow Metro updates and posted signage for information regarding ADA ramp and Metro A-Line access.
  • Partial sidewalk closure on north side of Holly St between Arroyo Pw and Marengo Av. Pedestrian detour will be available (refer to map).
    • Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained.
  • Left turns from Arroyo Pw and Marengo Av onto Holly St will be prohibited.
  • Northbound travel lane reductions on Arroyo Pw. At least one lane will be available.
  • Detour will direct motorists to use Union St and Raymond Av to return  to Holly St.


 

Crews will then begin paving and striping the south side of Holly/Arroyo (approx. two weeks).  
  • Westbound Holly St closed between Marengo Av and Raymond Av. Eastbound travel lane will be available.
  • Detour will direct motorists to use Union St and Raymond Av to return to Holly St.
  • Temporary crosswalk on the south side of Holly St at Arroyo Pw.
    • Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained.
  • Left turn from Marengo Av onto Holly St will be prohibited.
  • Vehicle access to Arroyo Pw between Union St and Holly St will be prohibited.


 
What to Expect:
  • All work has the necessary permits and approvals
  • Work includes pavement grinding, concrete and asphalt paving, and line striping. Noise, dust, and vibration are expected. Water-filled and pedestrian barriers will be placed for safety.
  • Signs and flaggers will direct traffic through open lanes. Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside construction zones. Detour signs will be posted.
  • Temporary parking restrictions will be posted in the immediate work area.
  • Access to driveways, residences, and business will be maintained unless notified in advance.

  • Construction is dynamic and schedules are subject to change.
