Burbank: Olive Av at Verdugo Av, Lake St, and San Fernando Bl -  Utility Exploration

Summary:

The North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is part of Metro’s plan for better transit. This project will connect North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock and Pasadena through a new zero-emission BRT service that is faster, more reliable, and operates like the best rail lines in the County.

In September 2026, crews began construction in the City of Burbank. Prior to the start of major construction on Olive Av at Verdugo Av, Lake St, and San Fernando Bl intersections, crews will conduct work to locate underground utilities.

When: Construction activities are anticipated to begin the week of October 26, 2026, for approximately 1 week.

  • Olive Av/Verdugo Av intersection is expected to begin on October 26, 2026, for approximately one week.

  • Olive Av/Lake St intersection is expected to begin on October 26, 2026, for approximately 2 days.

  • Olive Av/San Fernando Bl intersection is expected to begin on October 26, 2026, for approximately 2 days.

Work Hours:

  • Monday through Friday, from 9am to 3pm.

Location:

  • Olive Av/Verdugo Av | Olive Av/Lake St | Olive Av/San Fernando Bl

  • Temporary lane closures on Olive Av approaching the intersection. At least one lane will remain open.

  • Utility exploration may occur in the sidewalk. Sidewalks and access to businesses will remain open.

What to Expect:

  • All work has the necessary permits and approvals.

  • The work will consist of boring a hole through the roadway or sidewalk to locate underground pipes. Once the pipe is located, the hole is filled back in. Noise and minimal vibration from drilling are expected.

  • Signs and flaggers will direct drivers through work areas and pedestrians through sidewalks and crosswalks.

  • Prior to major construction at these intersections, additional notices will be provided.
