Olive/Hollywood Wy & Alameda/Buena Vista: Utility Exploration

Summary:

The North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project is part of Metro’s plan for better transit. This project will connect the cities of Los Angeles (North Hollywood and Eagle Rock communities), Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena through a new zero-emission BRT service while improving access to jobs, education, and other important destinations.

Beginning in September 2025, crews will begin preliminary activities in Burbank to prepare the roadway for construction. These activities will include locating and identifying underground utilities. This notice describes the work at Olive Av and Hollywood Wy, and Alameda Av and Buena Vista St intersections.

Schedule:

Week of September 8, 2025, for a duration of one week.
Work hours: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Work will not occur in these areas at the same time. Crews may return again in early October for additional work.

Location Details:

Olive Av

  • Northbound and southbound lane reductions between Kenwood St and Ventura Freeway (SR-134) overpass.
  • Intermittent northbound and southbound lane reductions between Lima St and Alameda Av.

Hollywood Wy

  • Right turn lane reduced onto northbound Olive Av. Right turns will be maintained exiting Warner Bros Studios.

Alameda Av

  • Westbound lane reduction from Lincoln St. to Buena Vista St.
  • Eastbound lane reduction from Frederic St to Buena Vista St.

Buena Vista St

  • Intermittent northbound and southbound lane reductions at Alameda Av.
  • Right turn lane reduced onto westbound Alameda Av. Right turns will be maintained.

What to Expect:

  • Potholing consists of boring a hole through the roadway or sidewalk to locate underground utilities. Once an underground utility is located, the hole is filled back in. Noise and minimal vibration are expected.
  • Signs and flaggers will direct traffic and pedestrians through open lanes, sidewalks, and crosswalks.
  • One lane will be open to traffic at all times. Work will not occur in each area simultaneously and lanes will reopen at the end of each workday.
  • Access to sidewalks, crosswalks, and businesses will be maintained.
  • Temporary parking restrictions will be posted in the immediate work area.
