Night Work at Vesper Av and Van Nuys Bl

Metro’s contractor, Valley Transit Partners (VTP), anticipates starting weekend work including night work to remove traffic lights and implement long term traffic control measures including lane reductions on Van Nuys Bl and on Vesper Av at G Line Busway to support the construction of the new aerial Van Nuys Station and bridges at Van Nuys Bl and Vesper Av.

  • Dates for Construction Activity: May 9, 2025, through Spring 2026 
  • Work Location: Metro G Line Busway at Van Nuys Bl and at Vesper Av. 
  • Construction Nighttime Work Hours: Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Weekend work from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM or Nighttime Work from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Weather permitting. 

What to Expect 

  • Intermittent lane reductions at Van Nuys Bl between Erwin St and Hatteras St. 
  • Vesper Av is expected to be closed for one night to thru traffic between Bessemer St and Aetna St.  
  • Metro Bus Stops will be relocated, please follow signage. For information on any changes to Metro service, please call 323.GoMetro.
  • Pedestrian access on Van Nuys Bl and Vesper Av will be maintained.  
  • Construction activities include striping removal, restriping, installation of K-rail, removing traffic signals, relocating traffic cameras to a temporary pole, and realignment of pedestrian sidewalks 
  • Removal of crosswalks and signals at the intersections of Van Nuys Bl and G Line and Vesper Av and G Line. 
  • Longterm lane reduction on Van Nuys Bl and on Vesper Av between Bessemer St and Aetna. 

Additional Information 

  • All work must receive necessary permits and approvals prior to work beginning. 
  • Access to emergency responders will be maintained. 
  • Access to driveways, residences & businesses will be maintained unless notified in advance. 
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas, please follow the signage. 
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts. 
  • Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change.
