Castaic Creek Bridge Construction

Summary 

As part of the I-5 North County Enhancements Project, Metro’s contractor OHLA USA, will be extending the existing Castaic Creek Bridge, along the northbound I-5 between SR-126 and Hasley Canyon Rd, to accommodate the new high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes. 

Construction will take place along the outside shoulders at Castaic Creek. Activities will include falsework installation and removal, bridge barrier work, utility work, and forming rebar, and concrete work. 

At the completion of construction, improvements are expected to enhance traffic flow and safety, reduce congestion, and make commuting smoother. 

This bridge extension is anticipated to be completed by Fall 2025. 

What to Expect & Traffic Control   

Prepare for nightly intermittent closures of northbound Hasley Canyon Rd off-ramp and lane closures between Biscailuz Dr and Hasley Canyon Rd, starting Monday, December 2, 2024, through Friday, November 21, 2025 from 10pm to 6am. 

  • Detour 1: Traveling northbound on the I-5, continue and exit at Parker Rd. Turn left on Parker Rd, and turn left on The Old Rd.  

  • All daytime work along the outside shoulder will take place behind k-rail. 

Essential Details 

  • Work hours: Monday through Friday and Saturdays as needed, between 7am to 4pm and 7pm to 6am. Crews will begin to mobilize at 6am.  
  • All lanes will reopen by before peak traffic hours each morning.  
  • No lane closures will be implemented during morning or evening peak traffic hours. 
  • Speed limit within construction zone will change to 55-miles per hour.
