Center Street Closed from Banning to Commercial Streets

Summary 

Division 20 Project workers are using directional closures on Center St (a main north/south road) from Banning to Commercial streets to replace the existing roadway and add a ten-foot-wide sidewalk along Center St’s west side. The northbound lanes were the first closed. Work is anticipated to continue until Saturday, February 1, 2025.  

Detours 

Local access to Center St will always be available from one direction. Access to driveways, residences and businesses are maintained at all times unless stakeholders are notified in advance.

Work Hours 

Work hours are from 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Saturday, except holidays. 

Noteworthy 

  • All work received the necessary permits and approvals. 

  • Pedestrian access is maintained outside of construction zones. 

  • Access for emergency responders is maintained. 

  • Parking restrictions have been implemented in the immediate area of the work zone. 

  • Construction schedules are subject to change.

Unhoused Persons 

If a person experiencing homelessness is encountered near a Metro construction site, Metro Construction Relations staff will distribute relevant construction information to the individual(s) located on City property. This information includes the time, date, location of construction activities, and anticipated impacts along with Metro Construction Relations contact information. 

Metro Construction Relations staff also notify and coordinate with the appropriate Los Angeles City Council District when a person experiencing homelessness is identified on City property (e.g., streets and sidewalks) near a Metro construction site.
