Chase Bank Building Demolition                       

Summary 

Metro contractors are currently demolishing the Chase Bank building located at 10921 Wilshire Bl (northwest corner of Wilshire Bl and Westwood Bl) to construct the new station entrance for the Westwood/UCLA Station. The work is ongoing and expected to be completed in approximately four months. The demolition of the Chase Bank building will require lane reductions on Wilshire Bl between Glendon Av and Gayley Av. There will also be sidewalk closures along the north side of Wilshire Bl between Westwood Bl and Gayley Av. The exterior structure of the building has been demolished and crews are working to install waterproofing before moving into the next phase of this work. Night and weekend work are anticipated for the next stage of demolition. 

Noise associated with the demolition work will be from saw-cutting and jackhammering, the use of large construction equipment, and the removal of plants and planters. The work will be conducted from exterior to lower-level interior demolition and excavation. No utilities or other services will be affected during the construction activities. Please follow the traffic signage, sidewalk, and crosswalk restrictions posted. Notices will be posted and updated online. 

Dates: Ongoing through August 31

Work Hours: Continuous weekends, Friday 9pm to Monday, 6am. 

Weeknights, 9pm to 6am  

Monday to Sunday: 7am to 3:30pm for equipment deliveries and haul off. 

Traffic Controls: 

• Lane reductions will be implemented along westbound Wilshire Bl between Glendon Av and Gayley Av. 

• The northern sidewalk along Wilshire Bl between Westwood Bl and Gayley Av will be restricted during construction activities. Please make sure to follow the pedestrian signs posted. 

• The crosswalks may be impacted during the work.  Please follow the traffic signs. 

• Right-turn pocket restrictions will be implemented for westbound traffic at the southbound Wilshire Bl and Westwood Bl intersection. 

• Northbound Westwood Bl restrictions for the left turn pocket at Wilshire Bl will be implemented.  

• There will be hauling in and out of material as demolition progresses. During these activities, trucks and other equipment will remove materials through staging at Wilshire Bl and restrict westbound lanes.
