Construction Notice 

Summary: 

Metro is making safety improvements on the Eastbound 91 Freeway from the Southbound I-710 to the Eastbound 91 connection through Atlantic Ave. and Cherry Ave. The 91 Eastbound Safety Project is designed to reduce collisions, improve vehicle merging, and help traffic move more safely in this area. Improvements include a new eastbound auxiliary lane and a new, higher soundwall along the corridor.

Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2026, with preparation activities now underway. Additional advance notice will be shared before major construction begins.

The following is a list of work activities anticipated for the month of April 2026.

1. Cleanup Cleanup will occur in the area between E 67th St. and Artesia Blvd. and between Atlantic Ave. and Cherry Ave. April 2026
2. Potholing Non-destructive excavation to inspect underground utilities throughout the project area. Limited lane closures may occur. April 2026
3. Sign Installation Construction signs will be placed near and around the work zone along SR-91 EB and E 67th St. Lane closures will occur. April 2026
4. Grinding Grinding of pavement on SR-91 EB. Lane closures may occur. April 2026
5. Restriping The SR-91 EB and Atlantic Ave. on and off ramps will be restriped in preparation for construction. Lane closures may occur. April 2026
6. Sawcutting Sawcutting of pavement on SR-91 EB. Lane closures may occur. April 2026
7. Temporary K-rail Installation These barriers will be installed to help set up and protect work areas along SR-91 EB and E 67th St. Lane closures may occur. April 2026

What to Expect:

  • Monday through Friday work hours are expected from 7:00am to 7:00pm
  • Night work may occur intermittently from 8:00pm to 6:00am
  • Saturday work may occur from 9:00am to 6:00pm, when needed
  • No Sunday work may occur, except in emergencies and when pre-approved
