Extended Lane Closures – Eastbound (Hawthorne Bl to Crenshaw Bl)

Summary: Metro has a plan to ease traffic and enhance safety on the I-105, which includes the conversion of the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, or carpool lane, into two Metro ExpressLanes in each direction on the I-105. Major construction for the first phase of the project, Segment 1 between Sepulveda Bl and Central Av, started in early 2025 and is anticipated to be completed in year 2028. 

As part of these improvements, work crews will implement extended lane closures on the weekend of September 25th along the eastbound I-105 between Hawthorne Bl and Crenshaw Bl. This work is part of a series of overhead sign structure installations, which support the overall project improvements, including the implementation of the new ExpressLanes.

Work Hours: Closures on eastbound I-105 from Hawthorne Bl to Crenshaw Bl beginning Friday, September 25, at 10pm through Sunday, September 27, at 10am

Location/What to Expect:

Eastbound I-105

Center lanes including the HOV and #1 lane will be closed on eastbound I-105.
Other eastbound travel lanes will remain open to traffic.
The 120th off-ramp will be closed. Please follow posted detour signage.
- Motorists are encouraged to use 120th St or Imperial Hwy as alternate routes during the 120th St off-ramp closure.
A Metro C Line bus bridge will be in place from September 25 at 9pm through Sunday, September 27 at 9am

Noteworthy:

Traffic control measures and advance signage will be in place to safely guide motorists through the work area.
