Electrical Work Activities – Imperial Hwy
Summary:
Metro has a plan to ease traffic and enhance safety on the I-105, which includes the conversion of the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, or carpool lane, into two Metro ExpressLanes in each direction on the I-105. Major construction for the first phase of the project, Segment 1 between Sepulveda Bl and Central Av, started in early 2025 and is anticipated to be completed in year 2028.
Work crews are anticipated to perform electrical work activities along Imperial Hwy at and adjacent to the I-105 overhead bridge structure between Nash St and Aviation Bl beginning April 14, 2026, to support and facilitate the new tolling system of the I-105 ExpressLanes. These work activities will require lane reductions with the overall work expected to last approximately five months.
Work Locations:
These work activities involving lane reductions will occur along Imperial Hwy at and adjacent to the I-105 overhead bridge structure between Nast St and Aviation Bl.
Work Hours:
Work activities are anticipated Monday through Friday, during daytime hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), some occasional intermittent nighttime work (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) may be performed, pending approval.
What to Expect:
Lane reductions are anticipated along Imperial Hwy between Nash St to Aviation Bl, which is anticipated to leave one lane of traffic open in each direction of travel. Access will be maintained during work hours in both directions of travel.
Various stages of the work will be performed at different locations along Imperial Hwy, left and right turning restrictions and lanes may be implemented at certain locations to facilitate this work.
It is anticipated that work will last for a duration of five months.
Work activities include the installation of electrical conduit on I-105 overhead bridge structure to support the tolling system for the new ExpressLanes.
