Summary: Metro has a plan to ease traffic and enhance safety on the I-105, which includes the conversion of the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, or carpool lane, into two Metro ExpressLanes in each direction on the I-105. As part of the I-105 improvements, work crews anticipate the start of construction in the Segment 3 area, between I-710 and Studebaker Rd, in August 2026. Construction in the Segment 3 area is anticipated to be completed in 2029.

What to Expect:

  • During construction, nighttime intermittent freeway lane reductions and ramp closures are necessary to safely perform work activities. Consecutive ramps will not be closed at the same time.

  • Most day-time work activities will be conducted in work zones behind concrete barriers, not resulting in any closures along the freeway.

  • Construction for Segment 2, between Central Av and I-710, is anticipated to start in fall 2026

Noteworthy:

  • Construction is dynamic and work schedules are subject to change.
