Retaining Wall/Roadway Pavement Construction

Metro has a plan to ease traffic and enhance safety on the I-105, which includes the conversion of the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, or carpool lane, into two Metro ExpressLanes in each direction on the I-105. Major construction for the first phase of the project, Segment 1 between Sepulveda Bl and Central Av, started in early 2025 and is anticipated to continue for approximately three years.

As part of these improvements, work crews will construct retaining walls as part of the new roadway pavement construction on the highway to accommodate the new ExpressLanes and project improvements on the right-hand shoulder of the freeway along the corridor in Segment 1.

Locations:
  • Westbound 350 I-105 between Vermont Av and Budlong Av
  • Eastbound  345 I105 between Budlong and Vermont Av

  • Construction of the retaining walls and new roadway pavement construction along WB and EB i-105 will begin late June 2025 and will be complete by Summer 2026.
