Directional Full Freeway Closures: I-105 between I-710 – I-605

Metro has a plan to ease traffic and enhance safety on the I-105, which includes the conversion of the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, or carpool lane, into two Metro ExpressLanes in each direction on the I-105. As part of the I-105 improvements, work crews are starting construction in September 2026 in the Segment 3 area, between I-710 and Studebaker Rd, near the I-605. Construction in the Segment 3 area is anticipated to be completed in 2029.                                                                                                                                    
Work crews are anticipated to perform directional full freeway closures on the I-105 over six nights, beginning Thursday, September 17, between I-710 to the I-605. These freeway closures are required to facilitate the restriping of freeway lanes on the I-105 to support the development of work zones along the corridor to support upcoming construction. 

Work Hours and Locations: The closures and construction work are scheduled to occur at the following locations and dates along the I-105. Corresponding ramps will be closed in order to safely perform these work activities.

What to Expect:

• Advance signage will be in place to notify motorists of detours, as well as freeway and lane closures.   

• Traffic control measures and signage will be in place to safely guide motorists through the work area. 

• Please note that work schedules are subject to change based on the progress of work and weather conditions. 

Noteworthy: 

• Early preparation work will continue to take place in advance of upcoming restriping activities, with nighttime lane and ramp closures as needed 
• Additional work activities will include the installation of concrete barriers, tree and landscape removal at select locations, and outer roadway grinding work among other activities after the freeway lanes restriping. 
• Future construction includes roadway pavement and retaining wall construction and drainage system improvements 
• Subsequent intermittent freeway lane closures and ramp closures will be scheduled during the nighttime hours in order to safely perform future construction activities.
