Rye Canyon Rd Closures for Bridge Construction 

Summary 

As part of the I-5 North County Enhancements Project, Metro’s contractor OHLA-USA, will be extending the Rye Canyon Rd Bridge. At the completion of construction, improvements are expected to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, reduce congestion, and make commuting smoother. 

Construction will take place along eastbound and westbound Rye Canyon Rd and require nightly full closures in both directions. Activities will include bridge demolition and deck construction. 

This bridge extension is anticipated to be completed by the end of January 2026. 

What to Expect & Traffic Control 

Intermittent street closures of eastbound and westbound Rye Canyon Rd, between Ave Stanford and The Old Rd will continue through Friday, January 30, 2026 from 7pm to 7am.

• Detour 1: Traveling northbound on the Old Rd; turn left on Henry Mayo Dr to eastbound SR-126 on-ramp; continue onto Newhall Ranch Rd to east or west Rye Canyon Rd.
• Detour 2: Traveling southbound on The Old Rd; turn left on Magic Mountain Pkwy; left on McBean Pkwy; left on Newhall Ranch Rd to east or west Rye Canyon Rd.
• Detour 3: Traveling westbound, turn left on Newhall Ranch Rd; right on Mcbean Pkwy; right on Magic Mountain Pkwy; north or south onto The Old Rd.

Essential Details 

• Work hours: Monday through Friday and Saturdays and Sundays, as needed, between 7pm and 7am.
• Daytime work from I-5 freeway. Nightwork inside closure.
• The speed limit within the construction zone on Rye Canyon Rd is 45-miles per hour.

Access to emergency responders will be maintained. Construction is a dynamic process, it is subject to weather conditions, and information is subject to change, visit the project website for the most up to date information and a weekly listing of ramp closures scheduled.
