Project-Wide On- and Off-Ramp Closures, Lake Hughes Rd to San Fernando Rd 

Summary 

As part of the I-5 North County Enhancements Project, Metro’s contractor OHLA-USA will be completing construction activities that require intermittent closures of southbound I-5 ramps and connectors. At the completion of work enhancements are expected to improve traffic flow, augment safety, reduce congestion, and make commuting smoother. 

Activities include wall backfill, wall construction, bridge work, concrete paving, roadway construction, k-rail (concrete barriers) adjustment, striping, drainage, and electrical work. 

What to Expect & Traffic Control  

Prepare for intermittent closures of the following southbound on- and off-ramps and connectors from Lake Hughes Rd to Hasley Canyon Rd, through Summer 2026. Working hours vary for each ramp and are listed accordingly with detours. 

Southbound on- and off-ramps:  

  • Southbound (SB) Lake Hughes Rd on-ramp 

  • SB Parker Rd on-ramp 

  • SB Hasley Canyon Rd off-ramp 

  • SB Hasley Canyon Rd/Sedona Way on-ramp 

  • SB Hasley Canyon Rd/The Old Road on-ramp 

  • Southbound (SB) Rye Canyon Rd on-ramp 

  • SB Rye Canyon Rd off-ramp 

  • SB Magic Mountain Pkwy on-ramp 

  • SB Magic Mountain Pkwy off-ramp 

  • SB Valencia Bl off-ramp 

  • SB – Westbound (WB) Valencia Bl on-ramp 

  • SB – Eastbound (EB) Valencia Bl on-ramp 

  • SB Mcbean Pkwy off-ramp 

  • SB - WB McBean Pkwy on-ramp 

  • SB - EB McBean Pkwy on-ramp 

  • Southbound (SB) – Westbound (WB) Pico Canyon Rd/Lyons Av on-ramp

  • SB – Eastbound (EB) Pico Canyon Rd/Lyons Av on-ramp 

  • SB Calgrove Bl on/off-ramp 

  • SB San Fernando Rd off-ramp 

  • SB SR-14 Golden Valley Rd off-ramp 

Southbound connectors: 

  • SB I-5 to Eastbound (EB)/Westbound (WB) Newhall Ranch Rd 

  • EB SR-126 to SB I-5 

  • WB SR-126 to SB I-5 

  • SB SR-14 to Northbound (NB) I-5 

  • SB I-5 to NB SR-14 Auto Lane 

  • SB I-5 to NB SR-14 Truck Lanes 

Essential Details 
  • Signage is posted along the detour routes and at the preceding ramps and connectors. 

  • The speed limit within the construction zone is 55-miles per hour.
