Project-Wide Electrical Work

Summary 

As part of the I-5 North County Enhancements Project, Metro’s contractor OHLA-USA, will install both temporary and permanent electrical components, such as freeway lighting and ramp meters, throughout the project corridor during construction. This activity will include modifications to the existing electrical systems, and the installation of temporary foundations, light poles, conduits, and electrical components.

What to Expect & Traffic Control 

Modifications to existing electrical systems are scheduled to take place at the following locations for the week of Monday, June 2, 2025 through Friday, June 6, 2025 from 6:00am-2:30pm. 

  • I-5 center median between Magic Mountain Pkwy and the SR-126. The northbound and southbound #1 and #2 lanes will be reduced.Southbound Calgrove on-ramp 

Essential Details 

  • Consecutive ramps in the same direction will not be closed at the same time. Signage is posted along the detour routes and at the preceding off-ramp. Traffic will be maintained in each direction.   
  • No lane closures will be implemented during morning or evening peak traffic hours.  
  • The speed limit within construction work zones is 55 miles per hour.  
  • Detour and signage are provided, and specific closure information will be updated weekly.  

Noteworthy 

Access to emergency responders will be maintained. Construction is a dynamic process, it is subject to weather conditions, and information is subject to change, visit the project website for the most up to date information and a weekly listing of ramp closures scheduled.
