Bus Electric Charger Installation at El Monte Bus Station

Summary:
As part of the agency’s zero emission bus goals, Metro is installing bus chargers and other charging infrastructure at both El Monte Bus Station and Metro Division 9. Approximately 48 new charging stations will be installed between the two locations.

Date and Work Hours:
Construction began on October 14, 2024, and is anticipated to continue through Spring 2026. Work hours are Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm.

Location:
El Monte North Access Road located to the north of El Monte Bus Station loop and Division 9 Bus Maintenance Facility

What to Expect:

Work will be contained within El Monte north access road and Division 9.
Activities will not impact public access to the station or bus services at the El Monte Bus Station. Pedestrians will be routed outside the construction area.
Intermittent moderate noise, limited during daytime hours is anticipated.

Noteworthy

The completion of this project will allow for 124 buses to be charged at the new ZEB facility, supporting the transition of Metro’s bus fleet to 100% zero emissions by 2028.
