San Pedro St Intersection Improvement

The contractor is preparing to demolish and reconstruct the intersection of San Pedro St as part of the Rail-to-Rail Active Transportation Corridor (ATC) Project. The intersection will be restored on October 25,2024. 

The Rail to Rail ATC Project will bring improvements that better enable residents to bike or walk along the corridor and improve access to transit stations.

What:  The contractor will begin improving the street, sidewalk, and storm drain structures and installing street lighting. 

Where: At the San Pedro St and Slauson Av intersection between 59th Pl. and 57 St. from Wall St. to Avalon Bl. 

When:  
  • From June 7, 2024 through October 25, 2024. 
  • Monday to Saturday 7am to 3:30pm, Night work as needed, Weather permitting.  

What to Expect 
Directional street closures will be in place 24/7 for approximately five and a half months; the closures will be implemented in four consecutive stages.  
  • Stage 1A: directional closure and detour of northwest San Pedro St from Slauson Av to 58th St and approximately halfway through the intersection of San Pedro St and Slauson Av; just east of S Los Angeles St 
  • Stage 1B: directional closure and detour of southwest San Pedro St between S Los Angeles St and San Pedro Pl 
  • Stage 2A: directional closure and detour of northeast San Pedro St from Slauson Av to 58th St and just west of Slauson Av and San Pedro Pl
  • Stage 2B: directional closure and detour of southeast San Pedro St between S Los Angeles St and San Pedro Pl 
Noteworthy  
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts. 
  • Construction night work, if needed, will be minimized and will be within allowable noise levels. 
  • All work will receive necessary permits and approvals from the City of Los Angeles before starting work. 
  • Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained. 
  • Access to pedestrians will be maintained outside of the work area.  
  • Access to business/residential driveways within the work zone will be maintained. 
  • Dates, times, and duration of activities are subject to change.
