Metro G Line Van Nuys Station Closure and Metro G Line Bus and Bike Detour:  

Q1. When did Metro G Line Van Nuys Station close? 

A1. Construction at Metro G Line Van Nuys Station began in late February 2025 and is expected to continue through the end of 2027. 

Q2. Why did Metro G Line Van Nuys Station close? 

A2. Metro G Line Van Nuys Station, its parking lot, and the adjacent section of the G Line Bike Path are being demolished to build two aerial bridges over Van Nuys Bl and Vesper Av and to construct a new aerial station. These improvements are part of the Metro G Line Improvements Project, designed to improve mobility, reduce bus travel times, increase capacity, and enhance safety along the corridor. 

Q3. Will there be a stop at Van Nuys for the Metro G Line Bus? 

A3. Yes. Riders can board Metro G Line buses at a temporary stop located at the northeast corner of Oxnard St and Van Nuys Bl for westbound travel to Chatsworth, and at the southwest corner for eastbound travel to North Hollywood. 

Q4. How will the bus detour impact my travel time? 

A4. Riders should allow extra travel time, as Metro G Line buses may experience approximate delays of 5 to 10 minutes depending on peak traffic conditions. 

Q5. Where can I buy a TAP card or load fare onto TAP while the detour is in place? 

A5. Riders originating at Metro G Line Van Nuys Station can visit taptogo.net to purchase TAP fare or find the nearest TAP vendor. Nearby locations include CVS Pharmacy at 5061 Van Nuys Bl and Ria Transfers at 14440 Victory Bl. 

Q6. Will I be able to park at the Metro G Line Van Nuys Station Parking Lot? 

A6. No. The Metro G Line Van Nuys Station parking lot is closed during construction. Alternative parking is available at Metro G Line Sepulveda Station, accessible via Haskell Av or Erwin St. The address is 15430 W. Erwin St, Van Nuys, CA 91411. 

Q7. Will pedestrian access be impacted at Metro G Line Van Nuys Station during construction? 

A7. Yes. Pedestrians will be rerouted to the east and west sidewalks on Van Nuys Bl. Metro will maintain pedestrian access at all times. Please follow posted wayfinding signs. 

Q8. What are the impacts on cyclists who travel along the Metro G Line Bike Path? 

A8. The Metro G Line Bike Path will be detoured between Sepulveda Bl and Tyrone Av during construction. Bike sharrows and bike loops have been installed at three signalized crossings along the detour. Please refer to the bike detour map for more details. 

Q9. How will residents learn about construction activities? 

A9. Metro provides door-to-door construction notices to nearby residents and businesses. Metro also works with local community partners to help distribute construction updates.
