Van Nuys Station Demolition: Bus and Bike Detours

Metro is making major improvements to the G Line to deliver a faster, more reliable, and safer transit experience. Upgrades include grade separations, advanced signal technology, enhancements to the bike path, and a new four-quadrant gate system.

Construction is already underway, and as early as February 21, 2025, Van Nuys Station will close to allow Metro’s contractor, Valley Transit Partners (VTP), to begin building two new bridges at Van Nuys Boulevard and Vesper Avenue, as well as a new aerial station at Van Nuys Boulevard.

Work Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM

  • Occasional weekends (7:00 AM to 6:00 PM) or overnight (9:00 PM to 7:00 AM), weather permitting and pending City of Los Angeles permit approvals

Metro G Line between Van Nuys Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard

What You Need to Know

  • Van Nuys Station Closure: The station and parking lots will close. TAP vending machines will be removed.

  • Pedestrian Access: Sidewalks on both sides of Van Nuys Blvd will be closed. Safe pedestrian walkways will be available on the north and south sides of the street.

  • Bus Detour: G Line buses will be rerouted along Oxnard Street between Sepulveda Blvd and Woodman Ave. A temporary bus stop will be available at Oxnard St and Van Nuys Blvd.

  • Bike Path Detour: The G Line bike path will be detoured between Tyrone Ave and Sepulveda Blvd.

  • Sepulveda Station Parking: Access via Sepulveda Blvd will be limited. Please use Haskell Ave or Erwin St to enter the parking lot.

Additional Information:
  • The G Line Busway will be closed to all traffic between Sepulveda Bl and Woodman Av.
  • Long-term temporary parking is available at G Line Sepulveda Station with access via Haskell Av or Erwin St.
  • All work must receive necessary permits and approvals prior to work beginning.
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts.
  • Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change.
