(Westbound) Lyons Ave/Pico Canyon Rd Southbound I-5 On-Ramp Full Closure

Summary

As part of the I‐5 North County Enhancements Project, Metro’s contractor OHLA‐USA, will be extending the existing westbound Lyons Ave/Pico Canyon Rd southbound I-5 on-ramp.

Construction will take place during a 30-day long-term ramp closure. Activities will include roadway excavation and construction, concrete and asphalt paving, electrical work, and metal beam guardrail installation.

At the completion of construction, improvements are expected to enhance traffic flow and safety, reduce congestion, and make commuting smoother.

What to Expect & Traffic Control

Prepare for a continuous, 24 hours per day, full closure of the westbound Lyons Ave/Pico Canyon Rd southbound I-5 on-ramp, beginning Monday, October 6, 2025 to Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

  • Detour: Traveling westbound on Lyons Ave/Pico Canyon Rd; south on The Old Rd, east on Calgrove Bl onto southbound I-5 on-ramp

Essential Details

  • Work hours: Continuous, 24 hours per day, ramp closure from Monday, October 6, 2025 to Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

  • Day and night work will take place behind k-rail.

  • Night work anticipated to be completed with intermittent lane closures between 7pm and 9am.

  • Speed limit within the construction zone is 55‐ miles per hour.
