Electrical Work Activities - City Streets along the I-105

Summary: Metro has a plan to ease traffic and enhance safety on the I-105, which includes the conversion of the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, or carpool lane, into two Metro ExpressLanes in each direction on the I-105.  Major construction for the first phase of the project, Segment 1 between Sepulveda Bl and Central Av, started in early 2025 and is anticipated to be completed in year 2028.

Work crews are anticipated to perform electrical work activities on local city streets along and adjacent to the I-105 corridor between Nash St and Inglewood Av beginning in December 2025, with the overall work expected to last approximately six months. These activities, located in the western area of I-105 corridor, are being conducted to support and facilitate the new tolling system of the I-105 ExpressLanes.

Work Location: These work activities involving lane reductions are planned to be conducted on city streets along and adjacent to the I-105 corridor between Nast St and Inglewood Av at the following locations: Imperial Hwy, Nash St, Hornet Wy, Aviation Bl, La Cienega Bl, Felton Av, Sundale Av, and Inglewood Av.

Work Hours: Most work activities are anticipated to occur Monday through Friday, during daytime hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.), some occasional intermittent nighttime work (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) may be performed.

What to Expect:

  • Work along Imperial Hwy will occur from Nash St to Aviation Bl along and adjacent to the I-105 freeway.

  • Lane reductions are expected at all work locations, which is anticipated to leave one lane open in each direction of travel.  Access will be maintained during work hours in both directions of travel.

  • To safely perform this work, intermittent freeway ramp closures will be necessary at certain locations to perform these work activities.

  • Work crews are anticipated to conduct work activities at various street locations simultaneously.

  • It is anticipated that work will last for a duration of three weeks at each street location along the I-105, while work along Imperial Hwy is anticipated to last approximately 5-6 weeks.

  • Work activities include trenching, boring, conduit installation on freeway structures, potholing and street restoration.
