  • Both the EIS/EIR
    • Analyze and disclose a project's potential effects on the natural and human environment
    • Identify mitigation measures
    • Solicit community input
    • Identify a Locally Preferred Alternative (ultimate project selected)
 
  • CEQA Addendum 
    • A report that provides changes with no significant impacts that take place after the EIR and EIS are approved
    • For example, the project's design was modified to accommodate and meet City of Los Angeles standards
 
  • Civil Improvements
    • Construction activity that includes roadway widening, temporary and permanent bus stop relocations, sidewalk furnishes (benches, poles, meters, etc) adjustments, curb, gutter, and sidewalk replacement, and final pavement restoration
 
  • Directional street closure
    • Partial street closure that restricts vehicular traffic in one direction while allowing traffic to continue in the opposite direction
 
  • Electrical Duct Bank
    • A concrete-encased conduit system designed to protect the cables and wires it contains from damage
 
  • Environmental Impact Report (EIR)
    • A comprehensive report required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
 
  • Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
    • A comprehensive report required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
 
  • Full street closure
    • Closing a street to all vehicular traffic for a specific period for a safe and efficient construction process
 
  • K-rail
    • A concrete barrier used to separate the work area from adjacent traffic lanes
 
  • Progressive Design-Build (PDB)
    • The PDB delivery method brings the contractor and their designer into the project early and prior to final design and construction.  This enables both teams to validate the design and collaborate with Metro and Third Parties on value engineering and construction costs.
 
  • ROD (Record of Decision)
    • Concludes the Federal NEPA EIS process
    • Identifies the Locally Preferred Alternative (ultimate project selected)
 
  • Third Party Agencies
    • Organizations and companies independent of Los Angeles Metro, such as the Southern California Gas Company
 
  • Utility Adjustments/Relocations
    • Construction work performed to move existing utility lines to accommodate new construction or infrastructure projects
 
  • Utility Infrastructure
    • Utility poles, wires, and cables
 
  • Utility Investigation
    • Work performed to identify and verify the location of underground utility lines and infrastructure
 
  • Utility Vault
    • Concrete pre-cast structure underground
