Sound Wall and Roadway Construction on Eastbound I-105 between Avalon Boulevard and Stanford Avenue 

Summary:

Metro is improving traffic flow and enhancing safety on the I-105 by converting the existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes into two ExpressLanes in each direction. Segment 1 of the project—between Sepulveda Bl and Central Av—is currently under construction and anticipated to continue for approximately three years. 

As part of this effort, crews are demolishing and rebuilding sound walls and performing roadway construction along eastbound I-105 between Avalon Bl and Stanford Av. Sound wall reconstruction is necessary to accommodate new pavement and infrastructure for the ExpressLanes.

Eastbound I-105 between Avalon Bl and Stanford Av 

Anticipated Schedule: 

  • April – Late 2025: Vegetation removal, grading, and foundation work 

  • Late 2025 – Early 2026: Sound wall reconstruction 

  • Late 2025 – Late 2026: Roadway grading, excavation, and paving 

Work Hours: 

Monday through Friday, 6:30am–3:00pm 

Some intermittent nighttime work may occur between 8:00pm–5:00am for safety 


What to Expect:  

  • Crews will access the work zone from the freeway 

  • Construction activity will include equipment noise, dust, and truck traffic 

  • Landscaping and trees removed during construction will be restored after project completion
