AKA Alley Demo, Removal, and Restoration Work 
 

Summary 

The contractor will be performing demolition, removal, and restoration work in the AKA alley (between N Canon Dr and N Crescent Dr) throughout the month of May. Soundwall and pile foundation removal will be conducted from Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8. There will be no alley closure during this period of work activity. Starting Monday, May 11 through Monday, May 18 the contractor will close the AKA alley and begin alley improvement activities, including demolition and removal of existing asphalt concrete and base sections, base preparation, fine grading, strip gutter and curb placement, and asphalt paving.  Noise-generating activities, including pavement breaking and removals, will begin at 9AM during demolition work.  

Where

  • In the alleyway between N Canon Dr and N Crescent Dr at Wilshire Bl, from the alley approach at Wilshire Bl to approximately 180 feet north, at the end of the Canon Yard Wall.

When 

  • Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8, there will be no alley closure during this period of work activity.  
    Monday, May 11 through Monday, May 18 the contractor will close the AKA alley for work activity.   

Work Hours

  • Daytime Work Hours: 7AM-4:30PM (Permitted noisy activities performed from 9AM-4:30PM) 

Traffic Control

  • No alley closure is anticipated during soundwall and pile foundation removal.  
  • The AKA alley will be closed to support alley improvement activities from the alley approach at Wilshire Bl to approximately 180 feet north, at the end of the Canon Yard Wall. 
  • Partial access to the AKA’s driveway for monthly parking in the alley will be maintained during the closure.   
  • Temporary signage and traffic control devices will be installed to direct motorists and pedestrians around the work area.  
  • Noise-generating activities, including pavement breaking and removals, will begin at 9AM during demolition work.
