The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate at the center of Van Nuys Blvd, from the Metro G Line Van Nuys Station on Van Nuys to San Fernando Rd. 
 

SUMMARY 

As part of the ongoing advanced early works packages for the ESFV LRT Project, Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructors (SFTC), will perform the installation of cast-in-drilled-hole piles for protection of the existing concrete storm drainpipe to support the future Van Nuys/ Metro G Line station. This work will include traffic control implementation, including a street directional closure, lane reductions, asphalt removal, drilling of piles, installation of rebar, backfill, and roadway paving work.  

DATE AND WORK HOURS 

Beginning June 20, 2025, through August 2025, work will be conducted on weekends only, from Fridays at 8:00 PM to Mondays at 6:00 AM (58-hour continuous directional street closure), weather permitting. 

LOCATIONS 

  •  Van Nuys from Oxnard to Delano St

WHAT TO EXPECT 

  • Southbound Van Nuys Bl will remain open with lane restrictions.  
  • Northbound Van Nuys Bl, between Oxnard St and Calvert St, will be closed. Traffic will be detoured via L-Oxnard St, R-Kester Ave, and R-Victory Bl before returning to Van Nuys Bl (see graphic above). 
  • Some side streets will be impacted during weekend directional closures. 
  • Access to private driveways, residences, and businesses will always be maintained unless notified in advance. 
  • Flaggers will be provided at various locations to direct traffic and pedestrians if access is restricted.  
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas from Hatteras St to Delano St. Please follow the posted signage. 
  • Bus stops and routes will be temporarily relocated for northbound Metro Lines 233, 237 and 761 from Oxnard Av along Hazeltine Av, Victory Bl, and back to Van Nuys Bl. Please follow the bus stop relocation signs. 

NOTEWORTHY 

  • Access for emergency responders will be maintained.
  • Construction is a dynamic process, and work schedules and timelines are subject to change. 
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts.
