The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit riders to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line Van Nuys Station to Van Nuys Bl and San Fernando Rd. 

SUMMARY

Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructors (SFTC), will conduct utility installation on Van Nuys Bl, between Haddon Av and Oneida Av. Work will be done in stages. Temporary lane closures are required and access will be maintained in both directions on Van Nuys Bl.

Work includes installation of new waterlines, requiring traffic control implementation, demolition, trench excavation, shoring, backfill, and street restoration. 

WORK HOURS  (Weather permitting)

Beginning Monday, November 24, 2025, through Spring 2026.

  • Westbound Van Nuys Bl: November 24 through January 2026, Monday-Saturday, 9pm to 6am.
  • Eastbound Van Nuys Bl: January 31 through April 2026, Monday-Friday from 8pm to 6am and occasional Saturday work from 6am to 8pm. 
  • No work on Thursday, November 27
LOCATION

Van Nuys Bl from Amboy Av to Telfair Av with the main construction activity located between Haddon Av and Oneida Av 

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Van Nuys Bl will remain open with lane restrictions. 
  • All lanes will reopen after each work shift.
  • Flaggers will be at various locations to direct traffic and pedestrians as needed.
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas, please follow signs.
  • Bus stops may be temporarily relocated, call 323.GOMETRO for updates and trip planning assistance.
  • Waterline relocation work may require a one-night shut off. Impacted areas will be noticed in advance.
  • Access to driveways, residences, and businesses will be maintained unless notified in advance.

 NOTEWORTHY

  • Access for emergency responders will be maintained. 
  • Construction is a dynamic process and schedules and timelines are subject to change. 
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts.
