Advanced Utility Work: ​Van Nuys Bl at Keswick St, Raymer St​​​​​

The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line Van Nuys Station to Van Nuys Bl and San Fernando Rd. 

SUMMARY

As part of the ongoing advanced utility work for the ESFV LRT Project, Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructors (SFTC) will conduct utility installation operations on Keswick St, west of Van Nuys Bl, and on Raymer St, north of Keswick St. Work activities will include full street closures at Keswick St and at Raymer St. The scope of work performed will include traffic control implementation, demolition, trench excavation, shoring and backfill, cable work, pole relocation, and concrete and paving work. 

DATE AND WORK HOURS 

Beginning March 17, 2025 through Fall 2025, Monday to Saturday. Night work from 8:00PM to 6:00AM and occasional work on Saturdays during the day from 8:00AM to 6:00PM. Weather permitting.  

LOCATION 

Work will take place on side streets off Van Nuys Blvd: Keswick St, Raymer St (see image above for work area). 

WHAT TO EXPECT 

  • Full street closure of Keswick St, ~600 feet from Van Nuys Bl. 
  • Full closure of Raymer St, ~800 feet from Keswick St. 
  • Raymer St and Keswick St full street closures will not occur simultaneously. 
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas, please follow the signage. 
  • The roads will be fully reopened to vehicular traffic and parking daily after work hours. 
  • Flaggers will be provided at various locations to direct traffic and pedestrians if access is restricted.  
  • Bus stops may be temporarily relocated as necessary, please follow the signage. 

NOTEWORTHY 

  • Access to private driveways, residences, and businesses will always be maintained unless notified in advance. Access to emergency responders will be maintained. 
  • Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change. 
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts.
