The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit riders to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line Van Nuys Station to Van Nuys Bl and San Fernando Rd. 

SUMMARY

Metro’s contractor will perform utility investigation along the project corridor. This work will include potholing operations and will require traffic lane closures along the project corridor on Van Nuys Bl between Oxnard St and Hamlin St. Work to be performed here will include traffic control, potholing operations, and street restoration. The upcoming work includes the full closures on the west and east side of Calvert St, Delano St, Erwin St, Sylvan St and Friar St. Please note both sides of the streets listed will not be closed at the same time. Each side will last one to two days for the pothole investigation work. In addition, Oxnard St and Hamlin St will have lane restrictions during the work. 


WORK SCHEDULE

Nightly: Monday-Friday from 8pm to 6am. Anticipated schedule for all work activities is May 4 to June 17, 2026, below please see the proposed schedule. Weather permitting. Schedule is subject to change:

  • West Oxnard St - May 4 to May 5, 2026 
  • East and West Delano St - May 6 to May 8, 2026 
  • East and West Calvert St - May 11 to May 14, 2026 
  • East and West Erwin St - May 15 to May 20, 2026 
  • East and West Sylvan St - May 21 to May 26, 2026 
  • East and West Friar St - May 27 to May 29, 2026 
  • East and West Hamlin St - May 30 to June 5, 2026 
LOCATION

Traffic control on Van Nuys Blvd between Oxnard St and Hamlin St with full closures at Calvert St, Delano St, Erwin St, Sylvan St and Friar St, and lane restrictions at Oxnard St and Hamlin St.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Van Nuys Bl will remain open with lane restrictions between Oxnard St and Hamlin St. 
  • Access to private driveways, residences, and businesses will always be maintained unless notified in advance. 
  • The road will be fully reopened to vehicular traffic and parking daily after work hours. 
  • Flaggers will be provided at various locations to direct traffic and pedestrians if access is restricted.  
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas; please follow the signage to prevent a citation or towing 
  • Bus stops may be temporarily relocated as necessary. Please follow the signage.

 NOTEWORTHY

  • Access for emergency responders will be maintained. 
  • Construction is a dynamic process and schedules and timelines are subject to change. 
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts.
