The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line (Orange) Van Nuys Station to San Fernando Rd. 

SUMMARY

The Southern California Gas Company will relocate a gas line at the intersection of Van Nuys Bl and Roscoe Bl. This work will require street closures and lane restrictions at and near the intersection, including full closures of northbound and southbound Van Nuys Bl at Roscoe Bl and lane restrictions on westbound Roscoe Bl. There will be two phases of traffic control for this work activity. Work includes potholing, saw cutting, trenching and excavation operations, relocation of a gas line, and street restoration. 

DATE AND WORK HOURS

On Monday, January 12, 2026, for a duration of approximately two months. Work hours are from 8pm to 6am on weekdays, and weekends from 8am to 6pm.

LOCATION

Intersection of Roscoe Bl and Van Nuys Bl. 

WHAT TO EXPECT

Phase 1: Lane reductions will be in place on southbound Van Nuys Bl between Chase St and Roscoe Bl, with no right turn allowed onto westbound Roscoe Bl due to the work area. Additional lane restrictions will also be in effect on Roscoe Bl between Wakefield Av to just west of Van Nuys Bl. 

Phase 2: Vehicular traffic on southbound and northbound Van Nuys Bl at the intersection with Roscoe Bl will be closed to through-traffic and left turns. Vehicles must detour using Roscoe Bl (see the map graphic below). Eastbound and westbound Roscoe Bl will remain open to vehicles, except for left turns onto Van Nuys Bl. 

  • Parking is restricted in posted areas. Please follow the signage posted with restrictions. 
  • Bus stops will be temporarily relocated as necessary. Please follow the signage.
NOTEWORTHY
  • Access to emergency responders will be maintained.
  • Construction is a dynamic process, and work schedules and timelines are subject to change. 
Detour Route During Phase 2:
  • Northbound Van Nuys Bl Detour: Roscoe Bl to Woodman Av to Nordhoff St and back to Van Nuys Bl. 
  • Southbound Van Nuys Bl Detour: Roscoe Bl to Sepulveda St to Saticoy St, and onto Van Nuys Bl.
