The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line (Orange) Van Nuys Station to San Fernando Rd. 

SUMMARY

Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructors (SFTC), will conduct utility installations on the east side of Sherman Wy near the intersection of Van Nuys Bl requiring a full street closure on the east side. The work includes various traffic control implementations, pothole investigation, demolition, trench excavation, installation of conduit, duct banks, vaults, shoring and backfill, concrete and paving work.

DATE AND WORK HOURS

December 15, 2025, to March 16, 2026
Monday to Friday 8pm to 6am, weather permitting.

LOCATION

East side of Sherman Way near the intersection with Van Nuys Bl.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Sherman Wy will be restricted to the east side of the street. The street will be reopened daily to vehicular traffic after each work shift. There will be some restrictions on Van Nuys Bl, including right and left turn pockets. 

  • The left turn pockets at the intersection will be restricted. Please follow the traffic signage. 

  • Access to private driveways, residences, and businesses will always be maintained unless notified in advance.   

  • Flaggers will be provided at various locations to direct traffic and provide safe pedestrians access.  

  • Parking is restricted in posted areas; please follow the signage.  

  • Bus stops will be temporarily relocated as necessary; please follow signage for the relocation information.

NOTEWORTHY
  • Access to emergency responders will be maintained.
  • Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change.
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts.
