East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT)

Project Website | Active Work Notices

The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit riders to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line Van Nuys Station to Van Nuys Bl and San Fernando Rd.

SUMMARY

Metro is making changes to Van Nuys Bl, which will include the removal of existing bike lanes, to accommodate the ESFV LRT Project’s train guideway, vehicle lanes, and ADA-compliant sidewalks. In coordination with the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), Metro has identified Terra Bella St, between Wakefield Av and San Fernando Rd, as the replacement bikeway location.

The painted (Class II) bike lanes will provide striped lanes for cyclists and will change the existing street layout, reducing most of Terra Bella St within the new bike path limits from two traffic lanes to one lane in each direction. Construction of the new bike lanes will include removing existing street striping, applying a slurry seal, and restriping the roadway.
