Project Website | Active Work Notices
The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line (Orange) Van Nuys Station to San Fernando Rd.

SUMMARY

Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructor’s, SFTC will replant twenty-six (26) trees along the side streets of Van Nuys Bl from Oxnard St to Parthenia St. This replanting follows the removal of thirteen (13) trees needed to accommodate earlier construction work. This replanting marks the beginning of replacing trees removed to accommodate construction of the new light rail, in accordance with the City of Los Angeles requirement to plant two new trees for every one removed. Tree replanting will continue throughout the life of the project and notification work will be distributed for new tree replanting sites.

The work will require construction crew access on sidewalks, curb lanes, and medians, as well as the use of construction vehicles and equipment along the streets. This work will include traffic control, marking out activities, saw cutting pavement, light irrigation work, sidewalk restoration, soil mixing, digging, and tree planting. The work is anticipated to be completed within a month.
