East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT)

Project Website | Active Work Notices
The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line Van Nuys Station to San Fernando Rd.

SUMMARY

Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructors (SFTC), is replacing the existing box culvert between Valerio St and Covello St that allows the Pacoima Wash to pass beneath Van Nuys Bl. As part of this work, concrete barriers were installed on Van Nuys Bl to separate the work zone from traffic. Construction has been taking place within the work area and will now also require overnight work in the street. To complete this work, a northbound directional street closure is required. The northbound lanes of Van Nuys Bl between Valerio St and Covello St will be closed at night for approximately one month, and northbound traffic will be detoured. Southbound traffic will remain open for vehicular travel.

SCHEDULE

Beginning August 17, 2026, through mid-September 2026. Work will take place nightly from 10pm to 6am, Monday through Friday, weather permitting. Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change.
