Gas Relocation: Van Nuys and Roscoe Bl

The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line (Orange) Van Nuys Station to Van Nuys Bl and San Fernando Rd. 


SUMMARY

As part of the ongoing advanced utility work for the ESFV LRT Project, Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructors (SFTC), will conduct utility installation work on Blythe St, just west of Van Nuys Bl. This work will involve various traffic control setups, including a full street closure of Blythe St, a westbound directional street closure on Blythe St, and work in the intersection. The scope of work performed will include traffic control implementation, pothole investigation, demolition, trench excavation, shoring and backfill, and concrete and paving work.  Work activities will include saw cutting, trenching and excavation operations, relocation of a gas line, and street restoration.

DATE AND WORK HOURS 

Monday, March 9, 2026, and is expected to last through late Spring 2026.
Monday-Friday 8pm to 6am, Saturday 8am to 6pm, as needed.

LOCATION 

Intersection of Van Nuys Bl and Roscoe Bl 

Northbound Vehicle Detour Route



Turn east on Roscoe Bl, turn north on Woodman Av,
turn west on Nordhoff St, and then return to Van Nuys Bl.


Southbound Vehicle Detour Route



Turn west on Roscoe Bl, turn south on Sepulveda Bl,
turn east on Saticoy St, and then return to Van Nuys Bl.

WHAT TO EXPECT 

  • Street closure at the intersection, with no through access for northbound or southbound traffic on Van Nuys Bl across Roscoe Bl. A detour will be in place, please follow the signage.
  • Eastbound and westbound Roscoe Bl traffic will be maintained. 
  • No left turns from Roscoe Bl onto Van Nuys Bl
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas. Please follow the signage posted with restrictions. 
  • Bus stops will be temporarily relocated as necessary. Please follow the signage. 

NOTEWORTHY 

  • Access to emergency responders will be maintained
  • Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change. 
  • Your natural gas service should continue without interruption. 
  • There could be a potential odor of natural gas in the area. We encourage anyone who has concerns to call 1-800-427-2200.
