Construction of the Pedestrian Bridge and North Plaza for the Westwood/VA Hospital Station

Summary

Metro contractors have removed a small portion of the National Veterans Mural. More than 90 percent of the existing mural remains, however. There will be some anticipated noise associated with the restoration. This work began in Summer 2025 and is anticipated to continue for approximately one year.

The temporary traffic control that will be implemented will impact the eastbound and westbound Wilshire Bl on-ramps into and out of the VA Campus. In addition, the bus stops on Wilshire Bl will be temporarily relocated for the construction. Periodically, northbound traffic on Bonsall Av for will be restricted, but flaggers will maintain access in both directions.

Concrete foundations at the North Plaza have been completed. Construction of the pedestrian bridge will resume in November 2025. This work will require lane reductions along Wilshire Bl and Federal Av/San Vicente Bl. Street parking may be impacted. Notices will be posted and updated online.

  • Ongoing through Summer 2026

Work Hours

  • Monday to Sunday, 7am to 5pm and 9pm to 6am
