Advanced Utility Work: Gledhill St. Closure - Van Nuys Blvd between Vincennes St and Plummer St

The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line Van Nuys Station to Van Nuys Bl and San Fernando Rd.

SUMMARY

As part of the advanced utility work for the ESFV LRT Project, Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructors (SFTC), will conduct utility relocation along Van Nuys Bl, between Vincennes St and Plummer St with a closure on the Gledhill St intersection. This work includes vault installation that separates the work zone from adjacent traffic lanes along southbound Van Nuys Bl. Activities will include utility installation operations such as duct bank and vault installations, traffic control, concrete, and paving work. There will be a one-day closure and a 3-week closure for this work (refer to the graphics for work location and detours).
 
DATE AND WORK HOURS
  • Friday, May 9, 2025, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM 
  • Monday, June 23rd, 2025 - Summer 2025, 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday – Friday, weather permitting.

LOCATION

Van Nuys Bl from Vincennes St to Plummer with a closure on Gledhill St, west of Van Nuys Bl.




WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Van Nuys Bl will remain open with lane restrictions on two separate closure dates for the Gledhill St intersection. 
  • Two full street nightly closure of Gledhill St will occur just west of Van Nuys Blvd with a duration of one day and 3 weeks respectively. 
  • Flaggers will be provided at various locations to direct traffic and pedestrians if access is restricted.  
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas. Please follow the signage. 
  • Bus stops may be temporarily relocated as necessary. Please follow the signage. 
  • The bike lane will merge with the traffic lane, and bicyclists and vehicles will share the road. 
NOTEWORTHY

  • Access to emergency responders will be maintained. 
  • Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change.  
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts.
