Construction on Wilshire Bl from Gayley Av to Westwood Bl 

Summary 

Construction along Wilshire Bl will resume at 9pm on Friday, May 29, and continue through 6am on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Work will include removal of the old sewer and construction of the new sanitary sewer line at the southeast entrance of the Westwood/UCLA Station, which supports station construction. 

Traffic Control 

Westbound Willshire Bl will remain open with traffic control in place. 

Eastbound Wilshire Bl will be fully closed between Gayley Av/Midvale Av and Westwood Bl. Local traffic on eastbound Wilshire Bl will be detoured onto Gayley Ave and Midvale Ave. Through traffic will be detoured to Santa Monica Bl via Federal Av. Detour routes will be marked with signage. Please follow these directions. Please see the detour and local access maps below for additional details. 

Additional traffic impacts include: 

  • Closure of southbound left-turn pocket on Veteran Av. 

  • Closure of northbound right-turn pocket on Veteran Av. 

  • Closure of southbound left-turn pocket on Gayley Av. 

  • Closure of northbound right-turn pocket on Midvale Av. 

  • Closure of Wilshire Blvd left-turn pocket at Gayley Av. 

Pedestrian and Business Access 

Sidewalk closures will be in place in the immediate work area; pedestrians should follow posted detour signage. Local businesses and properties will remain accessible. 

Metro Access 

Metro bus stops may be relocated, or lines could be impacted. For more information on changes to Metro service, please call 323.GoMetro, or visit metro.net/custom-widgets/trip-planner/ 

Noteworthy 

  • All work has received necessary permits and approvals. 

  • Access for emergency responders will be maintained at all times. 

  • Parking restrictions will be enforced in the work zone.
