Van Nuys between Plummer St and Canterbury Av: Sewer Line Relocation

The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line Van Nuys Station to San Fernando Rd.

SUMMARY

Sewer line relocation work will be done on Van Nuys Bl between Plummer St and Canterbury Av. The primary work zone will be located at the intersection of Van Nuys Bl and Vesper Av. During construction, Van Nuys Bl will remain open to vehicular traffic, with at least one lane open in each direction. Due to the work zone, motorists traveling northbound on Van Nuys Bl will not be able to make a left turn onto Vesper Av during work hours. There are no planned utility outages during this work.

Work includes relocation of sewer line connections, traffic control setup, street investigations, excavation, trenching, and roadway restoration.

July 2026 through Fall 2026
Monday – Friday, 8pm to 6am
Saturday, 6am to 6pm, as needed

WHAT TO EXPECT

Van Nuys Bl will remain open in both directions with lane reductions and left-turn restrictions.
Left-turn restriction from northbound Van Nuys Bl to Vesper Av.
Temporary and intermittent parking restrictions as posted.
The bike lane on Van Nuys Bl will be closed during construction. A replacement bike lane has been installed on Terra Bella St, between Nordhoff St and San Fernando Rd.

Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts.
