Valerio St Full Closure: Advanced Utility Work

The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line (Orange) Van Nuys Station to Van Nuys Bl and San Fernando Rd.

SUMMARY
Metro’s contractor will conduct utility installations on both the east and west sides of Valerio St at its intersection with Van Nuys Bl. This work includes conduit, duct bank, and vault installation. The work will also include various traffic control implementations, trench excavation, shoring and backfill, and concrete and paving work. Full street closures will be implemented on Valerio St on the east and west sides of the intersection with Van Nuys Bl. The closures will not be implemented at the same time.
 
DATE AND WORK HOURS
November 15, 2025, through Late Winter 2026
Weather permitting, schedule is subject to change.
  • East Valerio St: November 15, 2025- Late Winter 2026, Monday to Saturday,8pm to –6am. Additional daytime weekend hours may be necessary.
  • West Valerio St: November 29, 2025 -Late Winter 2026, Monday to Saturday, 8pm to 6am.

WHAT TO EXPECT

 
  • Valerio St will be fully closed on the eastside and westside.
  • Access to private driveways, residences, and businesses will always be maintained unless notified in advance.
  • Flaggers will be provided at various locations to direct traffic and pedestrians for safe access as needed.
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas, please follow the signage.
  • Additional closures of side streets may occur at the same time as this closure.

NOTEWORTHY
 
  • Access to emergency responders will be maintained.
  • Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change.
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts.
