Van Nuys Bl from Gault St to Arminta St: Advanced Utility Work

The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line (Orange) Van Nuys Station to Van Nuys Bl and San Fernando Rd.

SUMMARY
As part of the ongoing advanced utility work for the ESFV LRT Project, Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructors (SFTC) will conduct utility installations along Van Nuys Bl, between Gault St and Arminta St, and on nearby side streets. This work will require the installation of K-rail (concrete barriers separating traffic lanes from the work area) along northbound Van Nuys Bl that will remain in place for the full duration of the work. Activities will include K-rail installation and utility installation operations such as duct bank and vault installations, traffic control, concrete, and paving work.

DATE AND WORK HOURS
April 4, 2025, to January 2027, Monday to Saturday. Day shifts from 8:00AM to 6:00PM and night shifts from 8:00PM to 6:00AM. Occasional work on Sundays both day shift and night shift. Weather permitting.

LOCATION
Van Nuys Bl from Gault St to Arminta St (K-rail to be installed along northbound Van Nuys Bl). Work will also take place on side streets: Sherman Way, Valerio St, Covello St, Saticoy St, Keswick St, Raymer St.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Van Nuys Bl will remain open with lane restrictions and long-term K-rail.
  • The road will be fully reopened to vehicular traffic and parking daily after work hours, unless behind K-rail.
  • Flaggers will be provided at various locations to direct traffic and pedestrians if access is restricted.
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas, please follow the signage.
  • Bus stops may be temporarily relocated as necessary, please follow the signage.
  • Access to private driveways, residences, and businesses will always be maintained unless notified in advance.
