The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Bl, from the Metro G Line (Orange) Van Nuys Station to Van Nuys Bl and San Fernando Rd.

SUMMARY
As part of the ongoing advanced utility work for the ESFV LRT Project, Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructors (SFTC), will perform median removal work along Van Nuys Bl, between Roscoe Bl and Parthenia St. This work will include lane restrictions and left turn pocket closures along Van Nuys Bl. Work activities will include traffic control implementation, excavation and removal of median curbs and asphalt, and backfill and street restoration.

DATE AND WORK HOURS
Beginning Monday, September 15, 2025, through Fall 2025, Monday to Friday. Day shifts from 8:00AM to 6:00PM and night shifts from 8:00PM to 6:00AM.

New: This work will also require weekend activities to complete street restoration and striping:
  • Weekend work will begin Friday, November 21, 2025, at 8pm and continue until Monday, November 24, 2025 at 6am (a 58-hour continuous operation)
  • Monday, December 1, 2025, at 8pm-5am
LOCATION
Van Nuys Bl from Roscoe Bl to Parthenia St.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Van Nuys Bl will remain open with lane restrictions
  • Various left-turn pockets will be closed to facilitate work activities.
  • Flaggers will be provided at various locations to direct traffic and pedestrians if access is restricted.
  • Access to private driveways, residences, and businesses will always be maintained unless notified in advance.
  • The road will be fully reopened to vehicular traffic and parking daily after work hours.
  • Parking is restricted in posted areas, please follow the signage.
  • Bus stops may be temporarily relocated as necessary, please follow the signage.

NOTEWORTHY
  • Access to emergency responders will be maintained.
  • Construction is a dynamic process and work schedules and timelines are subject to change.
  • Noise and dust control measures will be in place to minimize impacts.
