K-rail Removal and Directional Closures: Van Nuys Bl from Nordhoff St to Woodman Av

The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit (ESFV LRT) Project will improve connections and access to crucial destinations while connecting transit users to the growing network in the San Fernando Valley. The Southern Segment of the project includes a 6.7-mile at-grade alignment that will operate in the center of Van Nuys Blvd. from the Metro G Line (Orange) Van Nuys Station to San Fernando Rd.

SUMMARY
Metro’s contractor, San Fernando Transit Constructors (SFTC), has been relocating utilities along Van Nuys Blvd., between Vincennes St. and Plummer St., and on nearby side streets. As part of this work, K-rail concrete barriers were installed on the west side of the street. The contractor has finished the work inside of the K-rail and will now remove the barriers, which will require directional street closures. This work will include traffic control setup, grinding and re-striping of the street, and street restoration to the conditions that existed before the barrier installation.

This work will require a one-time weekend directional street closure on Van Nuys Blvd., between Nordhoff St. and Woodman Av., to remove the K-rail concrete barriers and restore the roadway. Only one side of the street will be closed at a time. Once the work is complete, the street will fully reopen to its previous street conditions. A detour will be in place to guide traffic (see graphic on the reverse side).
