Westwood/VA Hospital Station Excavation and Construction 

Summary  

Workers continue constructing the Westwood/VA Hospital Station within Lot 42 and the staging yard west of Bonsall Av. 

Concrete operations continue for station interior walls and roof. Current work includes steel bracing removal, waterproofing, hoisting of reinforcing steel and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) equipment. Work also includes concrete pours for exterior walls and roof slabs. Backfill operations will commence with material hauling after roof elements have cured.

  • Through Spring 2026 

Work Hours 

  • Weekdays and Weekends 
  • 5am to 5pm 
  • 5pm to 3 am (Swing) 
  • 7pm to 5am (Electrical) 

Hauling Daytime Hours 

  • 5am to 5pm 
  • 9am to 3pm (Bonsall Av only) 
  • Hauling hours are subject to chance. If the hours do change, an updated notification with the new times will be provided. 

Traffic Control 

  • There are no traffic impacts from work in the yard. 
  • Trucks will continue to use the driveways on Bonsall Av and Wilshire Bl. 
  • The 405 freeway on and off ramps to eastbound Wilshire Bl will close at night intermittently for concrete placement.

Noteworthy 

  • All work has received necessary permits and approvals. 
  • Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside of construction zones. 
  • Access for the fire department and emergency responders will be maintained. 
  • Parking restrictions will be implemented in the immediate area of the work zone. 
  • Construction is dynamic and schedules are subject to change.

Unhoused Persons 

Metro Construction Relations staff will notify and coordinate with the appropriate Los Angeles City Council District when a person experiencing homelessness is identified on City property (e.g., streets and sidewalks) near a Metro construction site.
