Westwood/VA Hospital Station Excavation and Construction 

Summary  

Metro contractors will continue construction activities for the future Westwood/VA Hospital Station within Lot 42 and the West of Bonsall Av staging yard. 

Excavation of the station is complete. Permanent station concrete operations continue with invert slab, concourse falsework, and other station elements. The current activities include steel bracing removal, waterproofing, concrete pours for exterior walls, and piling. 

Date: Ongoing through Summer of 2025 

Work Hours:  

Weekdays and weekends: 5am to 5pm, 5pm to 3am (Swing), 7pm to 5am (Electrical)

Hauling Daytime Hours:  

5am to 5pm  

9am to 3pm (Bonsall Av only) 

Note: Hauling hours are subject to change. If the hours do change, an updated notification with the new times will be provided.  

Traffic Control:   

  • There are no traffic impacts anticipated for the work in the yard. 

  • Trucks will continue to use the driveways on Bonsall Av and Wilshire Bl. 

Noteworthy  

  • All work has received necessary permits and approvals.  

  •  Access for pedestrians will be maintained outside of construction zones.  

  •  Access for the Fire Department and emergency responders will be maintained.  

  •  Parking restrictions will be implemented in the immediate area of the work zone.  

  •  Construction is dynamic and schedules are subject to change.
